search iPhone > app store
There’s this thing called search on the iPhone. It’s a very good and fast way to find stuff you have on the phone like messages, contacts, mail and apps. I use this all the time for finding my apps, since I have 10+ screens making it more than 160 apps in total. The most frequently used I obviously have on the first screen and the rest is a mess. I tried folders first but it didn’t really work out for me.
So this is how it looks when you do a search for an app that’s installed already. Clicking on it opens up the app. It’s pretty straight forward and I’m sure everyone knows this already.

Sometimes I search for an app that I think I have installed and realize I don’t, and every time I think it’d be so nice if search would include App Store so you could download it directly from there instead of having to open the App Store app itself. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Here’s a simple sketch on how it’d would look when you don’t have the app installed. It’d simply be a list item at the bottom, or at the top for that matter, with an ‘install’ button. I think it’s a pretty obvious addition in the search, both on iOS and OSX. Anyone at Apple hear me?
