I’m checking out overblog, which is a syndication of your feeds, now based on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Foursquare and Instagram. I was sketching on this idea a while a go - a public timeline - like your your collected life stream, but didn’t go further.
I’ve tried a few other services but none that I particularly like. Flavors is one, that’s very design driven and nice but lacks the timeline perspective. There, it’s all divided into the different sections, whereas here it’s one chronological timeline which I like.
You can have different themes, and the theme selector looks quite similar to Tumblr’s.
While I like the concept, I’m not very happy with the look and feel, but hopefully it will improve over time. A funny thing is that it doesn’t import the comments, likes or anything from facebook, or replies from Twitter. So when you see the timeline it’s like there has been no interaction on the social objects, which is quite a bad indicator in my opinion. And if you wan’t to comment on a facebook post, it’s on overblog’s platform and not facebook, which I find quite awkward.
So, a nice idea, but nothing I think I’ll stick to.
